Working as a restoration tech has been a rewarding experience! And I’ve gotten to do some research this year while strenghtening my restoration skills at the Chicago Botanic Garden. If I could do more research in the future, I am curious about the following:

• Creating seed mixes for different restoration goals
• Companion pollinators to the Monarch butterfly
• How can we improve public knowledge of native plants and basic restoration ecology principles? For Spanish speakers?

This website is meant to be a mix of self-expression and sharing my journey through the field of restoration ecology.

Knowing that Illinois has less than 1% of prairie remaining is tough but I am confident that our management teams across the Midwest have the ability and patience to care for sites of varying levels of disturbance.

People have a relationship with land and nature, despite how separated or alienated many of us may have felt or still feel. So, I am embracing my humanness in this journey as much as possible. Because it’s just as fun as it is important!
